Replace the stepmother with a stepfather, the fairy godmother with the prince’s tutor, and the glass slipper with a matching bracelet, and you’ve got La Cenerentola. Rossini’s Italian opera is based on the classic fairytale, Cinderella, with all the romance of the story you love, but this time without the magic.
