There’s really nothing like sailing on a summer day, feeling the wind through your hair and smelling the sea. The Battery Park City Authority is offering free sailing trips aboard two historic yachts from North Cove Marina this summer. The Ventura, a 1919 racing yacht designed by legendary Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, will be hosting “Water Stories” on July 31 and August 14. The Shearwater, a 1929 Newport-style schooner yacht that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, will be taking people out for a “Harbor Sail,” a grand circuit around New York’s port on July 23 and August 20. The Shearwater will also have a nighttime trip to see the rarely seen Manhattan skyline from the Hudson River on August 3. Make sure to reserve your free ticket to enjoy a few hours in New York’s waters. Free Sailing On Historic Yachts RSVP
