Sofi Thanhauser: "Worn"

A Conversation About the History of Clothing
New York, NY
Wednesday, January 26th, 2022
7:00PM - 8:00PM

In Worn, Sofi Thanhauser’s dazzling social history of clothing, she brilliantly tells stories about the clothes we wear and where they come from. She exposes how the clothing industry has become one of the planet's worst polluters, and how it relies on chronically underpaid and exploited laborers. But she also shows us how micro-communities, textile companies, and clothing makers in every corner of the world are rediscovering ancestral and ethical methods for making what we wear. For the launch event, Sofi will be joined by exciting fashion critics, historians, and archivists to discuss her book in the larger context of the clothing industry: past, present and future.
