Before there was Sleep No More or even Marina Abramovic, there was the traditional Japanese tea ceremony - the original immersive art, if you will. Now, contemporary artist Tom Sachs takes his unique vision to subvert this ancient ritual, for a modern interpretation on its ideals of simplicity, silence, nature, and harmony. Sachs is known as the coiner of the term "knolling," and his works can be found at major museums including the Metropolitan Museum, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The ceremony will be followed by an artist talk.
