Why buy a telescope when you can make one? If you love stargazing, or have ever been interested in the mechanics behind a telescope, join astronomer Douglas Smith tonight at San Francisco's Bazaar Cafe. Smith will lead a one-night workshop on the basic optics, components, and process behind making a telescope. He recently completed FirstLight, a truss-tube telescope which will be exhibited at this year’s Maker Faire.

And even for the not-so-science-inclined, there will be a led stargazing after the event, so this would not be a bad Wednesday night option to grab dinner and drinks before under the stars at Bazaar Cafe.
