From its sparkling glass-enclosed rooftop bar and lounge to the artistic, authentically Italian eatery Il Principe, Hotel Hugo shines brightly in SoHo's culinary spotlight. Both settings draw inspiration from the neighborhood’s early 20th century heritage, seamlessly merging an industrial chic design sensibility with raw materials and elegantly modern finishes.
Il Principe itself is upscale in a modern and comfortable way, with a living wall in the gardenlike dining area, comfortable leather banquettes, and an abundance of mirrors.
Successful dishes include starters like a rich baked eggplant with buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce, and fresh basil; and filet mignon carpaccio with Castelmagno cheese, hazelnut, and celery leaves.
Don’t overlook creative sides, like Brussels sprouts “cacio e pepe,” too. Pastas – all made in-house – like the nice, creamy linguine with garlic, Manila clams, and breadcrumbs, are well made.
