In a space once occupied by an illicit casino run by famed gangster Charles “Lucky” Luciano in the ’20s and ’30s, Cucina de Pesce welcomes patrons of a different sort today. This atmospheric, sunken restaurant is a romantic spot, with soft lighting and a gorgeous hidden-away back garden.
The star items in the menu, fish dishes include garlicky shrimp scampi and a whole broiled sea bass topped with fennel, tomatoes, red onions, black olives and capers.
Pastas are cooked to a perfect al dente, while the Sicilian lasagna offers a heavenly taste of the Mediterranean. For land lovers, chicken Parmigiana never fails, and the tender wine-sauce-bathed hanger steak is a well known house specialty.
