New Yorkers are taking notice of the new places opening in Midtown. There’s plenty of impressive examples — the owners of Momofuku, Employees Only, and Milk & Honey have all opened, or are opening new cocktail bars in what used to be a no-man’s land for nightlife. This trend is now firmly established with the arrival two weeks ago of the super-swanky Covet Lounge. With creative cocktails by the red hot Orson Salicetti (Apotheke) and delicious food in a stunning location, this may just be the onset of a true scene in Midtown. NY Barfly calls Covet “the real deal.”
Of course, as with any hot new bar, it’s all but impossible to get in – usually. For one night only, Covet is opening the doors to Mekhong’s Ports of Call members to enjoy delicious Thai cocktails (imagine a cocktail garnished with a piece of grilled octopus – better yet, imagine $21 cocktails provided to Ports of Call Members for $9!). The lovely Dominique Mitchell will be hosting, and providing complimentary samples of these unbelievable cocktails along with complimentary delectable hors d’oeuvres.
